Step by step

  1. Text PAC to 65075 from your current phone (free from any UK network)
  2. You receive the PAC code within 60 seconds by text — valid for 30 days
  3. Choose your new network and plan
  4. When signing up, provide your PAC code — there's usually a field in the sign-up form
  5. Your number transfers within one working day
  6. Your old contract ends automatically when the switch completes

Check before you switch

  • Contract status: text INFO to 85075 to check if you're still in a minimum term and what exit fees apply
  • Phone unlocked? All phones sold in UK since Dec 2021 must be sold unlocked. Older phones: contact your network to unlock free
  • Coverage at your address: use the new network's coverage checker before committing
  • Don't cancel first: never cancel your contract before requesting a PAC — you may lose your number. The switch completes the cancellation automatically

Ofcom-guaranteed rights

  • Networks must provide your PAC or STAC within 60 seconds by text, or immediately by other means
  • No cancellation fees for switching after providing a PAC or STAC
  • The receiving network triggers the switch — you don't manage both sides
  • Networks cannot refuse or delay providing codes
